Summary
This position offers challenging opportunities to leverage your strong systems engineering background to build and support world class core Ad Server platform to the Search Marketing organization. You will be building out a linux based Hadoop cluster, performing build & release engineering activities and supporting development, QA and production environments from system administration, application support, build and deployment responsibilities.
Job Description:
We are looking for a well-experienced senior level systems engineer to install and maintain "Hadoop" on a Linux based cloud/cluster infrastructure with Xen virtualization technology. Architecting, implementing and administering Linux and UNIX-based solutions. You must also have relevant software build and deployment work experience Proficiency in Deployment related scripting language on Unix (ANT preferred) Knowledge of ANT scripting language Knowledge of version control and configuration management processes. We are looking for hands on engineer who enjoys working within a fast paced startup type environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Install and maintain Hadoop on a Linux based cloud/cluster infrastructure with Xen virtualization technology.
· Architecting, implementing and administering Linux and UNIX-based solutions
· Developing and enhancing rapid deployment procedures
· Develop and improve scripts and tools that automate manual procedures
· Contribute and adhere to standards including server builds, security, and production migration
· Managing efforts in support of data protection and backup processes
· Deploy and manage tools to automate the build, test, and release process across multiple development teams in a Continuous Integration environment.
· Enable development teams to perform scheduled and on-demand builds and automated test runs.
· Administer the source control system, develop revision control policies, and coordinate with development teams on source code organization.
· Create and maintain installers for components and applications that are distributed to customers and development partners.
· Work with application infrastructure architects to establish the physical environments to effectively perform the software builds and deployments with an emphasis on quality, integrity, and security
· Implement application builds on Java/Unix platforms Deploy Java web applications to an array of servers (UI, Database, Application, etc)
· Ensure all changes fall within application maintenance windows Identify processes in need of automation or scripting Build and maintain automatic build and deploy scripts
· Deliver reliable, timely and reproducible builds for project teams by deploying and maintaining Production, QA, and Development environments
· Resolve and repair compilation and deployment errors specifically related to branching, merging, building of source code, and maintenance of daily builds and production releases
· Troubleshooting build and compilation problems
· Documenting the build system
· Integrating the build system with automated test systems
· Work with the various teams to integrate new code into the build system
· Assist in the development of new processes, methodologies and tools.
· Providing occasional 24x7 on call support
· Application support, monitoring, triage, troubleshooting and remediation
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· At least 10 years experience in Linux server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation
· Knowledge of data analytics applications and frameworks such as Hadoop
· Affinity toward troubleshooting and solving difficult system problems, including hardware, software, and networking
· Ability to balance multiple, concurrent projects and regularly communicate status and issues
· Must be able to work in an autonomous, fast-paced environment with little guidance
· Minimum of 3 years relevant software build and deployment work experience Proficiency in Deployment related scripting language on Unix (ANT preferred) Knowledge of ANT scripting language Knowledge of version control and configuration management processes
· Extensive experience scripting build, release and installation processes
· Experience with authoring build scripts to automate developer and production builds
· Strong attention to detail, and ability to debug build problems
· 2+ years exp. in Software Configuration Management (SCM) and ANT/Maven
· Proficient with a scripting language such as PERL, Python, Groovy, Ruby, csh, sh, bash, as well as Windows batch files
· Familiar with HTML, XML, and JavaScript
· Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies
· Current working knowledge of Tomcat and Apache
· Strong understanding of platforms such as Windows and UNIX
· Experience in basic network services technology such as SNMP, DNS, Content Switches, routers, SSL, etc.
· Cruise Control experience a plus
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· 10-15 years experience in Linux server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation
· BS in Computer Science or equivalent (Masters is a plus)
